Eid at Isra University: How Rotary, Justajoo and a University Built a Ration Tradition

A recap of our April 2024 Eid ration distribution at the Asadullah Kazi Auditorium — and why university campuses are surprisingly good logistics hubs.

On 20 April 2024, the Asadullah Kazi Auditorium at Isra University, Hyderabad filled with families, ration bags, and one very specific kind of joy — the kind that arrives the day before Eid, when a household knows the meal on the table is settled.

The distribution was a three-way partnership: Justajoo Foundation, Rotary Club Hyderabad Justajoo (Charter President: Sadaf Raza Warraich), and Isra University under Vice Chancellor Dr Ahmed Waliullah Kazi. Each partner brought what they had — Justajoo brought the families and the logistics, Rotary brought the volunteers and the procurement, Isra brought the venue and a remarkable team of students.

The delegation in the room

Joining Sadaf Raza Warraich for the welcome address were Behzad Bashir Memon, AbdulWahab Munshi, Shahzad Raza Warraich, Dr Farzana Memon, Masood Ahmed Jumani, Asad Qureshi, Sorath Memon, and Azhar Uddin — a cross-section of the Rotary club and the foundation team who have shown up to event after event over the past three years.

Dr Ahmed Waliullah Kazi, in welcoming the foundation, presented Sadaf Raza Warraich with a commemorative shield — a small ceremony with a meaningful subtext: a private university openly acknowledging that food security is part of higher education’s responsibility, not adjacent to it.

Why campuses are quietly brilliant for ration drives

A university auditorium has things that an open ground does not: a manned gate, structured queueing space, washrooms, shade, electricity, a stage for dignified handover, and student volunteers who already know how to organise an event. The logistical cost of a ration drive falls dramatically when a university opens its doors.

For corporate-citizenship teams thinking about how to deploy CSR budgets during Ramadan and Eid: pair with a local NGO that has the beneficiary list, and a local university that has the space. It works. We will be running this model again in 2026 — and welcoming new partners.
